Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship

Our organization seeks to encourage young scholars to continue their education by offering financial assistance in their first year of college. We are seeking young minority male scholars who display academic excellence, leadership quality, and community involvement. Scholars who aim to make a difference and give back to those who seek help.

There are several scholarship opportunities for NIU ROTC students, some without a commitment to service. Being a student-athlete or having leadership experience are important factors in decisions to award scholarships and waivers.

The Rockford Alumnae Chapter serves the cities of DeKalb, Freeport IL, and Rockford, IL and was chartered on November 18, 1984 by 13 Devastating Divas. These women were determined to bring Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Service into their communities. After 40 years of service, we are still implementing programs that encompass each aspect of the sorority's five point programmatic thrust.

For Candidates Pursuing a Degree in Civil, Environmental, Structural or Electrical Engineering, Construction Administration, or Public Works Related Field.

Winnebago County Soil & Water Conservation District

Academic performance will be given high priority consideration in the selection process.
For the purposes of this scholarship, fields related to natural resources may include fish or wildlife biology, conservation or management, air quality, botany, conservation education, ecology, forestry, hydrology, soils, pollution control, or water quality.

The Trail Blazer Scholarship serves as an incentive for students to showcase their foresight, ingenuity and goodwill with the purpose of improving the world they live in. Applicants will discover their ability to lead, direct, manage, and execute along the way. The biggest goal of this opportunity is to draw out the realization in students that they have the power to serve as a conduit for change.

ELEVATE Program

ELEVATE Program assists youth and young adults 16-24 years old to obtain full time employment in Boone and Winnebago counties. If training/schooling is needed to obtain this goal, tuition assistance for schooling and job placement is provided which includes required books and materials. If qualified, supportive services assistance are available such as transportation and other items. Career Planners provide case management working with the Youth and all entities/organizations the Youth are involved with to provide services. Placement in paid work experience (temporary work up to 350 hours) and On-The-Job training employer subsidy program (permanent full-time work) is also offered.

DIAMONDS Scholar Scholarship

Administered by the Founders Commission, DIAMONDS Scholar youth scholarships are eligible to high school seniors from Boone, Ogle, Stephenson and Winnebago counties. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who is pursuing college, university, junior college, or technical/trades post-secondary education. In alignment with DIAMONDS as a vehicle for showcasing exemplary achievement, applicants must embody excellence in the classroom, demonstrate an ability to thrive under pressure, and show a commitment to volunteerism in the Rockford region.

Karen Howard Music Scholarship

The Crossroads Blues Society Karen Howard Memorial Music Scholarship was established in 2018 in memory of the founder of Charlotte’s Web, Karen Howard. This scholarship for post-secondary study recognizes an outstanding high school student who has been actively involved in music and is going on to study music after high school.

YMCA of Rock River Valley

The YMCA of Rock River Valley offers two different scholarships to support teen leaders. Applicants must actively participate and demonstrate leadership in one or more extracurricular activities or take an active role in improving the overall health of their community.

Buffalo Soldiers MC of Northwestern Illinois

Paying for college can be a hardship for many families. Unfortunately many young men and women have difficulty pursuing their educational goals because of financial burdens. For this reason, the National Association of Buffalo Soldiers & Troopers Motorcycle Club (NABSTMC) has created an initiative that assists seniors in high school with their first year of college tuition.

Through the generosity of two very special women, the Rockford Park District Foundation has the privilege of awarding two scholarships each year to girls that have been impacted by the game of golf. By applying, you are automatically eligible for both scholarships.

IMEG Engineering Scholarship Program

RAMM

Rockford Association for Minority Management (RAMM) offers a limited number of scholarships to African-American high school seniors in Winnebago County. The purpose of the RAMM scholarship is to recognize and reward personal and academic achievement and to help defray the cost of higher education.

Rockford University Education Pathways Scholarships

In collaboration with Rockford University, Rockford Public Schools provides a unique opportunity for RPS students who are interested in becoming teachers to pursue a degree at a fraction of the cost. In addition to a significantly reduced tuition rate, students are also given; summer employment opportunities, student teaching opportunity in RPS, preferential hiring upon degree completion as well as an opportunity to pursue a FREE master's degree once employed by the district.

American Association of University Women Rockford Area Affiliate

The Rockford Area Branch of AAUW is pleased to award STEM college scholarships to deserving self-identified women residents who are high school seniors enrolled in a public or private Winnebago, Boone or Ogle Country school.
